This is the second post. The first, published earlier today, was the template for a day planner I am giving a try. It is a personalized, only slightly modified, adaptation of the format used in the Mel Robbins 5 Second Journal, which can be purchased online. I went by the free sample day-plan that is downloadable at 5secondjournal DOT com.
I won't be regularly posting my plan for each day. Here, as a sample, is my plan for today—subject to moment by moment changes.
==========
from the Mel Robbins 5 Second Journal sample download page How To Have The Best Day Ever
- Date, Time, Place: Friday, June 14, 2019, starting circa 9 AM, in my home in the out-building guest room at my niece's place on Bainbridge Island, Washington
- Today I feel (Depleted, Blah, Fine, Good, Energized): Energized
- Because: a) I'm excited to be starting a new writing project, this blog; b) yesterday I had a dental exam by a new to me dentist and so got procrastinating seeing a dentist (ever since I got to Bainbridge Island last fall) off of my mind; c) I had a good night's sleep, and d) my daily Transcendental Meditation practice of late has been fairly regular.
- To feel more—or even more—energized, today I can and—I hope and expect—I shall: a) communicate with my sister-in-law Rebekah about our journey to the Pacific in process writing project; b) make myself a keto fat bomb, and c) go for a 10 to 30 minutes walk this afternoon.
- Today my top priority project is: Create this Life of Brian blog, get started posting to it, and tell close family and friends about it.
- This project matters to me because: It is another procrastination breakthrough. I have been "going to" do more with my website, such as by adding a blog, for years. Also, it will save my family and friends from getting emails from me that are actually journal entries. Also, I think it will help me be even more attentive, as I will be on the lookout for interesting experiences to post. I expect that I'll publish a blog post at least weekly.
- At least one small move I hope and expect to do today to move this project forward: I've done it! I've created this blog and posted to it. I expect I'll get done TWO MORE small moves—publish this second post and tell a few people about my Life of Brian blog.
- Any other thoughts about today's plan?: I thought that I should take a brunch break, and I did.
- Something specific that I am grateful for at this moment is: That as I am dictating this to Dragon, I can be looking out my windows at the lush greenery of the Bainbridge Island forest. Greens are calming and soothing to my eyes. Also, at any moment I might see an interesting animal or bird. In recent days, I've seen a coyote and a black-headed grosbeak.
- Today, I will stop work: on all projects by 6 PM and afterward I will do just routine and puttering tasks or will socialize face to face or online
- Timeline:
(Including appointments, deadlines, events, get-togethers, meetings, and scheduled calls)- Morning and early afternoon: Creative writing;
- Mid-afternoon: Nap
- Late afternoon: Beta reader editing and/or writing-life emails
- Plan for this day notes brain dump: This is taking me too long. What takes Mel Robbins 10 minutes each morning to plan her day is taking me most of today. (More than 3 hours total stopwatch time up to posting this post.) I've tried for decades to learn to think and write faster and haven't made much progress. I wonder, does Mel Robbins fill in all the blanks or just choose her priority focus for the day or what?
- Today's top three objectives that I hope and expect to accomplish:
- 1. Life of Brian blog created and first two posts published.
- 2. Family informed about the blog.
- 3. Progress made giving Rebekah's essay in progress on storytelling and imagination a close read.
- Today I feel (Depleted, Blah, Fine, Good, Energized): Energized
