This afternoon, I had a 3.5 hours siesta. That's unusual. Usually it's from less than 1 hour to less than 2 hours. So it was after 4 PM that I sat down to my computer to make plans and to make progress on projects and problems solving. It was after 5:30 PM that I was updating my Google calendar and saw with consternation that I was due in Poulsbo at circa 6 PM to help, along with other SURJers, at a church dinner for the poor.
In recent days, I've been going to arrange a ride to get to that event early. But then doing that slipped my mind as the opportunity to prepare and to go came and went.
Short-term memory loss is aggravating. If I don't give time and attention daily to my smart phone's alarm clock, to my Google Calendar, to my Coggle mind map plan for the day, and to my clothespin of to do notes, opportunities important to me slip out of my mind.
That is aside from lesser forgettings, such as to take my phone with me when I leave my room, to put my niece's car keys back on their hook when I return from a drive, or to take off my computer eyeglasses and put on my out and about eyeglasses when I go out.
All I can do is keep striving as I age to be a normal, functioning human.
